A deadly tornado in Iowa killed six people on Sunday. The tornado in Iowa touched down at 6pm yesterday. Apparently the tornado was very very large, a man described it as looking like a black wall. The tornado started in the Iowa town of Parkersberg and moved 10 miles north before dissipating. Another tornado touched down in Dunkerton, but it was mainly a rural area so no one was hurt although a lot of damage was done to forests. Iowa declared a state of emergency in the towns.
Apparently the storm also brought other activity as hail as big as nickels. Tornadoes were reported in several states including tornadoes in Texas, Kansas, and Minnesota.
I personally have never seen a tornado, let alone a tornado in Iowa, and I hope I never will. They sound scary, but I guess all natural disasters are. How big was the earthquake in China the other day? I think it was huge but I’m not sure quite how big it was. Life in Canada can be cold, but at least we don’t get nearly as many natural disasters as elsewhere in the world. The worst we ever have is a hurricane, and I think lower down the east coast probably has bad ones too.
